About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Practices efficient time management, focuses on deliverables, and is able to effectively prioritize when undertaking assigned projects
- Actively participates in implementation of assigned global veterinary and/or laboratory animal care program initiatives and strategies
- Maintains and reports animal use data as well as incidents of animal welfare non-compliance
- Creates animal care related training material/ dossiers -Supports internal and/or external audits
- Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
- Resources to correct and/or achieve project goals
- Responsible for planning, monitoring, documenting of projects and analysis of information
- Contributes to some cost center goals and objectives
- Broadens technical knowledge via departmental activities, literature reading and experiential learning.
- May train junior.
- Skilled in collaboration across project team(s)
- Reporting of technical complaints / adverse events / special case scenarios related to Novartis products within 24 hours of receipt
Role Requirements:
Some weekend on call, holiday coverage required.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in biomedical related science or equivalent experience,
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a technical skills tract laboratory animal program preferred
- Hands on expertise with breeding techniques and processes
- Advanced understanding of genetically engineered rodent models with a focus on breeding colony management.
- Multiple rodent dosing and blood collection techniques a plus!
- Strong commitment to animal welfare, research support, and high quality in vivo focused science
- Strong communication with a broad range of stakeholders, strong aptitudes as team player.
- Strong leadership skill base and prior experience of leading a small team of research associates, preferred.
- Responsible for pursuing continuous learning/professional development opportunities, enhancing/expanding skill set, and reviewing CM techniques.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs., be able to work from a standing position for prolonged periods of time and perform repetitive motion tasks.
This is a dual posting. The final level & title of the offer role would be determined by the hiring team based on the skills; experience & capabilities required to perform the role at the level the role has been offered (Senior Scientist I /Senior Scientist II)
Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $93,800- $174,200/year for Senior Scientist I and between $103,600-$192,400/year for Senior Scientist II; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/25 through 12/31/25, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors
